New Features in Dimensions and Dimensions Lite - Version 2.44b
Please find below brief details on one of the new features and enhancements available in the latest version of Dimensions.
Credit Control Module
As businesses are putting greater emphasis on cash control the functionality of the Credit Control Module has been extended significantly. There are now a variety of ways to view your debtors, allocate the chasing to different staff, add chasing notes and allocate cash, all from within the same window. There are many new features including the writing off of bad debts. The philosophy behind the revitalised module is to provide one central place from which you can drive all your credit control operations.
Introduction to Access Plug-ins
Access Plug-ins are modules designed to deliver industry-specific functionality to the standard Dimensions product. By adding an Access Plug-in module to your installation of Dimensions it will switch on additional features and tailor existing functions to suit the requirements of your industry. Details of two of the plug-ins are detailed below.
Advanced Price Matrix
The Advanced Price Matrix is a fully multi-currency pricing matrix which allows you to create as many price lists as you need. The system allows you to cater for a whole range of complex pricing arrangements including offers such as 'Buy One - Get One Free'. Each price list can be in a specific currency, have a start and finish date and any combinations of customers and products. Price lists can be set up in advance and only activated once you are ready to apply your new pricing policies.
Sales Order Templates
The Sales Order Template module is an easy to use facility to pre-define common and repeat orders to individuals, groups or all of your customers. It is ideal if you have customers that return again and again for the same or similar order. It can also be used for regular repeating invoices such as member subscriptions, maintenance charges, rent charges and so on. This facility is fully integrated with Dimensions and can work with all your current discount and pricing rules.

Issue with Horizons, Foundations, and Payroll running on Windows Server 2008
Please note that there is currently an issue with Access Payroll, Horizons, or Foundations running on a Windows Server 2008 platform. This new Microsoft operating system will not currently support the database technology that we use. Discussions are underway to resolve this. In the meantime you are strongly advised not to run Access Payroll, Horizons, or Foundations in an environment where you work with the data files on this new Server operating system. Access Dimensions is not affected by this problem.
SQL Recovery Model Settings for Microsoft SQL Server
For those of you who tune and tailor your Microsoft SQL database there is important news if you are running Dimensions version 2.44B with the Dimensions Service Pack 02.
The application of the Dimensions Service Pack resets the Recovery Model in SQL Server to Simple. This is the default setting for all our Dimensions databases. However, if you have changed the default to the Full Recovery Model then you will need to manually change the setting back to full again. This will be essential to ensure that your database can be recovered in the event of a system failure. Full details of this issue and further guidance can be found in this Dimensions Document. Please note that the vast majority of users do not change these default technical settings and will not be affected by this issue.
